Best Albums Of 2011 So Far….

I believe it is mid July, that can only mean one thing, that’s right, it is the “BEST ALBUMS OF THE YEAR SO FAR” list! Woo hoo!

The year so far has seen the likes of a reinvigorated Liam Gallagher with Beady Eye, Adele breaking all sorts of ridiculous sales records and little unknown gems by the likes of The Computers. This isn’t by any means some kind of final list for the end of year by any stretch, but certainly albums that have already made their imprint and deserve to be heard. Right, so no fanfare and in no particular order, my favourite albums of 2011 so far are….

Yuck – Yuck

Losing Colour – Stricken City (Sadly the band had split up on the album’s release, but still such a gorgeous record)

Monotony Chic – Shapes

The King Of Limbs – Radiohead

Levitation Vol.1 Mixtape – Pop Levi ( I fucking love this guy I really do, this mixtape is genius)

Vices & Virtues – Panic At The Disco

Colour Of The Trap – Miles Kane (a triumphant return for Kane, refreshing and a powerful delivery)

A Thousand Heys – Mazes

Return To The Ugly Side – Malachai

Fake History – Letlive (got into this by a chance recommendation, I have never once looked back)

Native To – IS TROPICAL

Skying – The Horrors

Euphoric///Heartbreak\\\ – Glasvegas (I won’t ever understand the luke reception this album got, they are on form right now!)

The Golden Age Of Nowhere – Funeral Party

Welcome Home Armageddon – Funeral For A Friend (one of my favourite bands came back with a scorcher)

England Keep My Bones – Frank Turner

Rome: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack – Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi

There Is A Way – Dananananakroyd

This Is The Computers – The Computers (proper punk rock mentality, with tongue firmly in cheek. Absolute class)

Cat’s Eyes – Cat’s Eyes

Bon Iver – Bon Iver (I am not gonna lie, it took me a little while to warm to this album, I’m glad I stuck with it)

Hope – The Blackout (Welsh boys come back with yet another banger!)

Different Gear, Still Speeding – Beady Eye

21 – Adele

Well hello there, I know I have been away for a little while, been on my hols and enjoying some sunshine amidst this rather bleak world. I’m back now and hope you all enjoyed my interview I did with Young Guns!

So as a little welcome back post and to celebrate my 100Th post (true fact!), I wanted to let you experience this little gem of a 7 minute Mini-Epic by the amazing Flashguns.

Flashguns

The band have been very busy recently, touring with the likes of Bombay Bicycle Club and Mona at the tail-end of 2010. They are currently touring with one of my favourite bands at the moment, Funeral Party. This wonderfully constructed opus can originally be found on one of their earlier EP’s, but the band have decided to give it away as taster to ‘Passions of A Different Kind’, their yet to be released debut album.

This astonishing introduction is euphoric and simply divine in its delivery. It was something that hit me instantly and knew that I had to share it with you lovely people. So have a listen and DOWNLOAD and it is yours to enjoy…..
