We here at Sourmash are always excited at the prospect of some Noel Gallagher/Oasis news when it comes our way, so you can imagine how excited we were when we found this information out. It came to our attention last week that the Chief himself has been out on the prowl for a new backing band for his upcoming solo album and tour! That band is none other than Liverpool’s biggest secret, The Sand Band.

You only have to take one listen to The Sand Band to see why Noel has falling in love with these guys. Taking influences from great Liverpudlian bands such as Shack, The Coral and The Las, it’s no surprise that he has approached them personally with his request. Members include David McDonnell, who was a recording assistant on Roots and Echoes by The Coral. Scott Marmion, who recently played Steel Slide guitar on The Coral’s latest album, Butterfly House. Jay Sharrock, who is Chris Sharrocks son and Max Goldberg, who we unfortunately don’t know much about.
This revelation has definitely shed some light on the future of Noel Gallagher’s solo efforts. He is one to keep this information to himself and never has there been any concrete information regarding the songwriters future. With news of Noel booking studio time to record drums for a unnamed band and also several dates slotted in at The Royal Albert Hall for sometime in the future, we think fans wont have to wait as long as they originally thought.
So just to wet your appetite folks here is The Sand Band with their song ‘Set Me Free’

And also a little something you may have heard before….
